E-C Translation Exercises

Thursday, May 24, 2007

What we have learnt from the latest exercise?

1. Must understand the source text thoroughly - though it is already in your "mother language."

2. Must choose the proper word or phrase to communicate the source text - consult with an English-English dictionary or English encyclopedia to pick out the most proper one, when there are synonyms.

3. Use common and popular words or phrases instead of "lingo," when the readers of your translation work are the common folk.
